Fight Against Domestic Violence!

Two years ago this month, my beautiful sister-in-law was a victim of domestic homicide. For the next 4 weeks I will be listing items where 100% of the funds raised will be donated to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence in her name. Please help me in stopping domestic violence before it is too late! All proceeds from items marked "Charity" will be donated. Thank you in advance for your contribution!

For those of you who would like to know more information, here is our story. On May 28, 2008 I was driving home from work when I got a heartbreaking phone call from my husband saying that his little sister, Jarah, had been shot. I rushed to meet him at the hospital, but we were too late. She was pronounced dead on arrival by the paramedics. Her 4 month old son, my wonderful nephew Riley, was found unharmed on the scene. His father had shot his mother and then himself. Riley has since been adopted by family and is a happy 2 year old boy. Jarah was a beautiful mother with a smile that you couldn't forget. She lives on in our family through her son. I think it's important to raise awareness against domestic abuse so that no family has to go through what we went through. We hear about tragedies like this all the time on the news but we never think it could happen to us. Let me assure you.... It can! So please help me in fighting back!

Our family too suffered such a trgedy...my husbands youngest sister who was 31 at the time was shot and killed by her husband 8 years ago in July. We never got to say goodbye to her either. Her 2 children were 6 and 8 at the time and my inlaws have been raising them since her death. They are 14 and 16 now and it is just so sad that they will never see their mom again. Her killer(husband) got 21 years so will be walking the streets again soon!!!!!! This was in Missouri too...there needs to be some tougher laws back there on this !!!!

Bev- Thank you so much for sharing your story! It is very heartbreaking to lose a family member this way! I see you and I have experienced the same tragedy. Seems so senseless! I can't imagine what it will be like for the kids as they grow and learn about their parents but my heart is right there with them all! 21 years just isn't enough.... I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts as well as we all raise money for this charity! Thanks again, Bev!
