A little about me...

K I N D R A

I am a wife of almost 7 years now and a mother to two beautiful children. I have a wonderfully imaginative 6 year old boy named Kambel and a crazy red headed daughter names Kamryn (loving referred to as "Big Red") who is almost 11 months. We live in the Midwest area along with our 2 dogs and 3 cats. I work almost full time and run my website and etsy store on the side. I have been in love with everything crafty since Elementary school. I was an art geek in High school and would love to at some point pursue it in college. I started scrabooking when I was in High School and have been hooked every since!!

My inspiration would have to be... EVERYTHING! From plane tickets to postcards to old letters... I love to keep and display everything. You know you are a hardcore scrabooker when you get some cute embellishments and have to take pictures just to match your materials! I love colors as well! Many of my items are pretty vintage but I find the colors of the Earth... browns, greens, grays, and black to be just as inspirational.

Well, it's no surprise that I love to use paper! I love to shade it, stain it, tear it, crumble it... you name it! I also love fibers such as twine, lace, ribbon, and yarn. I've been expanding lately to incoorperate more. I recently did a project on canvas and have started to use fabrics and tulle. That's the great thing about crafting. Anything goes!

I use to have a great big work area that was cluttered with more items than I could possible use in a lifetime. It was Heaven!! And then... my daughter came along and I had to do something I NEVER thought I'd have to do... Organize! Now I have a huge cabinet that stays somewhat clean. I'm holding out for a larder space here in the future!

My husband and I both come from "K" families. I'm Kindra and he's Kerry. Just in our immediate family we have: Karon, Kris, Kaye, Kevin, Kolby, and Kaylene. We decided to carry on the trend in naming our kids, Kambel and Kamryn. I know, I know, how "Korny" =)

Introducing.... Tulle!

I was at the craft store today browsing through the fabric department when I ran upon some tulle. I picked up a few colors thinking it would be fun to add something to my creations other than paper! So, I played around tonight and added layers of tulle to my new puff flowers. I have to say that I loved experimenting and there will be many more to come!

Sending Hugs

Here is my latest creation that I have entered into this weeks challenge at Meljens. I used this adorable digital stamp from Whimsey Doodles to complete the color challenge. The colors were teal, brown, and orange. Quite a challenge! Last week was the first time I have entered one of Meljens challenges and I plan to continue to participate as time allows! My goal is to someday make top 5! Wish me luck and thanks for looking!

Also entered in the following challenges:
Crafty Catz
Aud Sentiments
365 Cards
This card works perfectly as well, for the 365 cards challenge. I love scrapping with all shades of blue but use orange very little! Somehow they came together on this card!

Meljens Design Team Challenge

Challenge Project

So, I got my little boy off to his first day of first grade today! The summer just flew by! He was so excited though and ready to meet all of his classmates. I thought I would take the extra time I now have to do Meljens Design Team Challenge! The theme was "I See Double." You had to use two of the same images on one card. I used this adorable "Happy Little Whale" digital image from Whimsy Stamp. Thanks for looking!

Vintage Puffs

So the past few weeks have been pretty hectic here in the Snelling household with work and school just around the corner. Not to mention chasing around my daughter who will be walking any day now! Hopefully things will be settling down soon and I will have more time to create and blog! For now, here are some new flowers that I've been working on:

Whimsie Wednesday Challenge

This week Whimsy Doodles challenged us to make something sweet! Using the cupcake treat trio digital stamp I created this card:
This only the second creation I've ever made using a digital stamp. I'd have to say it was so much fun! I can't wait to make more!

August Challenge Projects Has Been Posted!

So in the month of July, all of us at More Paper Than Shoes, were taking a trip to Paris! Well, not literally but in our hearts and at our scrap tables! All of the projects have been posted today and the work is just beautiful! Here was our challenge:

Theme: "Vintage Paris
Supplies: Fabric, Metal, Acrylic Paint
Surface: Any
Technique: Crackle

For this tag I used a large rubber stamp for the woman and for the fans. I stamped onto plain white paper and then cut the pieces out to make me a template for the patterned pieces. I then just layered them together! I also made the little paper flowers on the fan from circle die cuts.

The Eiffel tower is also a rubber stamp from the Paper Studio that I hand stamped and framed with a metal charm from the Paper Studio as well.

These Design team challenges are turning out to be VERY fun for me to work on! It's a wonderful thing to be inspired by such a talented group of women! My goal is to continue on in learning and exploring new techniques and materials!
