Two years ago this month, my beautiful sister-in-law was a victim of domestic homicide. For the next 4 weeks I will be listing items where 100% of the funds raised will be donated to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence in her name. For those of you who would like to know more information, here is our story. On May 28, 2008 I was driving home from work when I got a heartbreaking phone call from my husband saying that his little sister, Jarah, had been shot. I rushed to meet him at the hospital, but we were too late. She was pronounced dead on arrival by the paramedics. Her 4 month old son, my wonderful nephew Riley, was found unharmed on the scene. His father had shot his mother and then himself. Riley has since been adopted by family and is a happy 2 year old boy. Jarah was a beautiful mother with a smile that you couldn't forget. She lives on in our family through her son. I think it's important to raise awareness against domestic abuse so that no family has to go through what we went through. We hear about tragedies like this all the time on the news but we never think it could happen to us. Let me assure you.... It can! So please help me in fighting back!
